We started making our Wetland Board games today - we will have a chance to play them next week.
I moved our math quiz to Thursday! Upcoming Dates: Thursday June 20 - we are guests at the grade 6 farewell Monday June 24 - Sports Day Wednesday June 26 - This is a half day! Last day of School for students - year end assembly and Report Cards go home. Can you believe we are already into June??
Our classroom gets quite warm during the days we experience Summer weather. Students should be bringing a hat and water bottle to have when we are outside (this includes during gym class). We have a number of year end projects on the go right now - we had a discussion about the importance of maintaining focus while we do our best work during work time.
We will be starting our health unit later this week. Please let me know if you do not wish for your child to be a part of it. A notice went home a couple of weeks ago. Today was Ms. Hunter's last day - we gathered together with the grade 4 class to wish her well and thank her for the time she spent with us over the last few months. I hope everyone had a nice long weekend!
A reminder that we are going to the Calgary zoo next Thursday May 30 - thank you to everyone who has brought back their forms and thank you to those who have volunteered to come with us! We will be going over reminders with the students in the next week. They will be reminded: - dress for the weather - we are outside rain or shine - do not bring any money - pack a lunch & water bottle (there are a lot of refill stations for water throughout the zoo) - students will need a backpack that day A number of forms were sent home today: - Casino volunteers for November - The grade 4 Entrepreneurial Venture fundraiser - Grade 5 Health form - please let me know if you have any questions or if you do not wish for your child to participate in this. Calgary Zoo fieldtrip forms went home yesterday via SchoolMessenger. Please print the consent form and return to the school by May 21. I have uploaded a copy of the zoo forms below. We visit the zoo on Thursday May 30! Today a form went home with Patrol students - they have a bowling party next Tuesday May 14. They leave the school at 9:30am and return by 11:30 - this is to celebrate their leadership of being a school patrol. Please return form and payment by Friday May 10.

Zoo fieldtrip forms will go home next week. Please let me know if you are interested in volunteering for this fieldtrip - We go on Thursday May 30. We had our session with Elder Randy Bottle this afternoon.
Tomorrow is Fun Lunch (Edo) for those who have ordered it. The last Fun Lunch of the year is middle of May. Zoo Fieldtrip: Due to some scheduling conflicts we have switched our zoo fieldtrip from Monday May 27 to Thursday May 30 (we switched dates with Mr. Parson's class) Paperwork will be going home in the next couple of weeks but we will need 5 volunteers for that day. If you are able to volunteer, please send me an email - it is a full day fieldtrip and you must have your Police Clearance. Thank you! Election Day today!
As we continue our study of Canada and looking at significant events and the impact those events have had on Canada we have had many conversations about Democracy! We will continue our conversation tomorrow! Tomorrow morning we have presentation from the Vincent Massey Band - it is great opportunity for students to start to think about the possibility of continuing their music studies in a couple of years :) Tomorrow is "Wear Red Day" to show our support of the Calgary Flames!! No school on Friday - Good Friday No school on Monday - PD Day We had a great presentation by our School nurse, Kayla on Screen time. We discussed having a balance between being active, completing learning tasks and screen time. Tomorrow we will be discussing Nutrition with her.
Tomorrow we will be continuing our research in social studies. Tomorrow we have Fun Recess snack (for those who have ordered it) I am missing a couple of Tennis forms - Tennis starts on Monday This weekend is the Calgary City Science Fair. It takes place at the Olympic Oval. I have included the link below if you are interested in going. It is free for families (you need to pay for parking). We have one OHS project in the Science Fair this year. http://cysf.org/ Next week we start First Serve Tennis - there are still students who have not returned the parent consent form. I have sent home multiple copies of the form and I attached it below. Students cannot participate if the form isn't returned. Please return it by Monday if you haven't already. Monday we have our presentation by Paul Davis 11am - 12pm
